A Florida man who was visiting friends in Nashville drowned Friday after jumping into the water from a buff near Oak Branch Trail, police said.

Police identified the man as Carlo Centeno, 26, of Orlando.

Centeno's friends had been jumping into the lake "much of Friday afternoon," police said.

The friends told detectives Centeno made his first jump at 3:45 p.m. He bobbed to the surface and appeared to be "struggling to swim" before disappearing under water, police said.

His friends couldn't reach him.

Emergency rescue crews found Centeno’s submerged body nearly four hours later.
