A man is dead after drowning near Drummond Island on Percy Priest Lake on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency identified the man who drowned on Percy Priest Lake Monday afternoon as Michael R. Hicks.

Hicks and a group of friends went boating on the lake when they stopped near Four Corners Marina to jump in the water. The 42-year-old man disappeared beneath the surface around 4:30 p.m.

Emergency officials at the scene said Hicks drowned on the south side of Drummond Island, where three drownings have occurred this year.

The Nashville Fire Department dispatched a dive team in search of Hicks, who was spotted by a Metro Nashville Police Department helicopter. His body was recovered around 6:10 p.m in water that was six-feet deep.
