S.O.A.R. Has 1st Annual Fundraising Event With Birds Of Prey

  • Friday, March 2, 2012

Save Our American Raptors announced its first annual fundraising event on March 17.

Organizers said, "We are spreading awareness for our planet so you too can be green on St. Patrick’s Day! Come spend the day with birds of prey. Hold an owl and have your picture taken with the world famous hang gliding Eagle, Osceola. Have your kids pet a screech owl and see an incredible vulture soar over their heads. You can also take a ride on a Hang Glider, so you can see a bird and actually be a bird too."

S.O.A.R. will be hosting this free event at the Lookout Mountain Flight Park Landing Zone. The whole family is welcome for children’s activities, artist booths, a silent auction, and a live birds of prey program.

The educational events will be followed by a celebration, which will include dinner, beer, and live music starting for a suggested donation of $10.

The Lookout Mountain Flight Park Club House is at 1836 Creek Road, Wildwood, Ga. 30757.

Silent Auction opens at 1 p.m.; Educational Events and Pictures With The Birds will from 1-4 p.m.; Live Birds of Prey Program will be 4-5 p.m.; Children’s Art Contest and Silent Auction Close will be 5-6 p.m.; Dinner and Party will be at 6 p.m. and on. Come rain or come shine (there is an indoor area).

S.O.A.R.'s mission is to create awareness and respect for these magnificent birds of prey and the earth we all share. All of the funds raised from this event will be used to support S.O.A.R.'s work in the local community.
